Babysitting
Your conscious mind is all you need to work, study or read. To apply yourself to a specific task you must be in control of your thoughts and actions. Your conscious mind is great at doing this on its own.
Despite the precision of your conscious, you may find yourself distracted with other things. There is a monkey in your head grabbing for everything else except for the task at hand and waving it in your face. This hyperactive part of your brain is your subconscious. Amazingly, your subconscious is actually more powerful than any modern computer. It also has the attention span of a flea.
Don't get me wrong- your subconscious mind is responsible for many great things (movement, hunger, sex drive etc.). But when you need to concentrate on something that doesn't hold instant gratification, your conscious, logical side needs to take the wheel.
The purpose of this blog is to tame (only temporarily) the monkey in you. By listening to music you can distract your subconscious with something else while your focused, conscious mind does the work. Most of the sounds posted here will be absent of lyrics (hearing the logic of human speech can take your conscious mind's focus away from the task at hand) and instead will be geared towards the child in your head.
